This problem usually results from the need to install ASPI drivers.
Proper ASPI drivers are needed in order for SlowGold to record digitally from a CD-ROM. ASPI support is built into Windows 95, 98, and WinMe and SlowGold users will rarely experience trouble in this area with these Operating Systems unless another program (such as a CD-writer install) has overwritten the original ASPI files. Our current version handles this issue for WinXP, but for Windows NT, and 2000, you may need to manually install the ASPI drivers to enable digital recording. You only need to be concerned with this if you are unable to use digital recording in SlowGold and do not wish to use analog recording (email us for instructions on switching to analog, it's pretty easy). You can learn more about ASPI at http://aspi.radified.com/ and at http://www.adaptec.com/
The procedure below should backup your current ASPI installation if you have one, install a solid version of ASPI under any operating system, and provide you with a utility for removing the files if you run into problems. You can email us for instructions if you prefer, or follow the instructions below. Version 4.6 of the ASPI files should work properly with SlowGold and any CD-writer hardware and software that you have. Click the File menu>Print command in your Internet browser to print these instructions.
Be sure to follow Step 4 below, as it will enable removal of these files if they do not work properly for your system. If you are concerned about any adverse affect that installing drivers to your system may have, you should do a full back up prior to installing the files.
